Thanksgiving is a time when many households gather around full tables. Yet for a growing

number of families in Northern Kentucky, the holiday season brings added strain. Rising costs and reduced access to resources make it harder to secure daily necessities, especially when many community services close for the holiday.
This year, Henry Hosea House is taking a different approach. Instead of pausing operations, the kitchen will remain open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025, and Friday, November 28, 2025, offering its regular meal service to any neighbor who needs a warm place and hot meal to celebrate the holiday.
For Executive Director Lauren Cavanaugh, the decision was straightforward. “We understand how difficult the holiday season can be when you’re already facing food insecurity,” she said. “Keeping our doors open ensures that no one goes hungry simply because resources are harder to access during the holiday weekend.”
Henry Hosea House has continued to see higher need throughout the year as food costs increase. The rising prices of basic groceries have stretched the kitchen’s budget and made it harder to meet demand. Staying open through the holiday reinforces the organization’s commitment to being a steady presence for the community.
The kitchen invites local partners and media to help spread the word so that every individual and family who needs meal support knows where they can go.
