At Hosea House, every meal is a chance to address the needs of our community with dignity, compassion, and respect. While our soup kitchen is primarily known for serving dinners to individuals and families in Newport, Kentucky, this Thanksgiving, we are excited to announce a special event.
We will be hosting a Thanksgiving Breakfast, providing a warm place and a welcoming atmosphere on Thanksgiving Day for anyone who may need it.
Join us on Thursday, November 28, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at 901 York Street, Newport, for a morning filled with food, fellowship, and connection.
Addressing the Needs of Newport and Beyond
Hunger remains a daily challenge for many residents in Newport and Greater Cincinnati. Families and individuals often face difficult choices—balancing rent and groceries, or heating their homes versus nourishing their bodies. While the holiday season can bring joy and abundance for some, it can magnify difficulties for others.
At Hosea House, we witness these realities every day. Each dinner we serve reinforces our essential role in the community. Our Thanksgiving Breakfast is a wonderful extension of our mission, providing not only a hot and nutritious meal but also a sense of belonging during a time that can often feel isolating for those in need.
Lauren Cavanaugh, Executive Director of Hosea House, emphasizes the progress we've made while acknowledging the ongoing challenges: “This year has seen fantastic growth, but it is disheartening that so many in our community still face significant hardships. Thanks to our numerous contributors and funders, we can provide for the community’s needs, but there is still much work to be done.”
A Breakfast of Connection
The Thanksgiving Breakfast at Hosea House is more than merely serving food; it’s a chance to connect with others, share the holiday spirit, and feel part of a caring community. We strive to create an environment where every guest—whether they come for nourishment or companionship—feels valued and appreciated.
This event would not be achievable without the commitment of our staff, the generosity of our supporters, and the relentless efforts of our volunteers. From food preparation to setting tables, each act of kindness helps us extend hope to those who need it the most.
How You Can Contribute
Hosea House thrives because of the compassion from individuals and organizations that share our vision for a fairer community. This Thanksgiving, you can help us in various ways:
Volunteer - Join us on Thanksgiving morning to serve breakfast, greet guests, or assist with cleanup.
