Under the leadership of our Director of Operations, Kim Rechtin, Hosea House has redefined what a “soup kitchen” can and should be. “We rarely serve soup, and work to offer truly delicious meals to our diners,” Kim says. This simple philosophy has led to some rather amazing initiatives, beginning with the development of staff that, among their other duties, loves to cook.
Say hello to Susan Prather and Rick Buechel. Susan offered to volunteer and once we realized what a great cook she was, we hired her. Her dinners regularly receive “This is the best food you have ever served” from our diners. And Rick, well Rick does just about everything around the House, and expressed a desire to cook. He now prepares our meals one day each week, and his lasagna is getting rave reviews.
Ever eat at Vincenzo’s in Sharonville? Well, Vincenzo Mazocca, founder, owner, and chef at this Cincinnati favorite sold the restaurant after twenty-seven years and “retired.” Not so fast!
Vinnie is now offering his amazing skills in the Hosea House kitchen every Thursday (and every other Friday.) Did someone say, “Soup Kitchen?”
